FEMA/Naoma Make Contact, Proposal

FEMA/Naoma Make Contact, Proposal

SEATTLE - Several of Naoma's head researchers met clandestinely with FEMA under condition of guaranteed anonymity due to the severity of the accident which has been suspected to require information that if revealed, would possibly divulge company secrets and thus breach held contracts. One anonymous researcher expressed his predicament and concern:

"This is certainly serious and our moral responsibility obviously leaves us no choice, as we must do the right thing. We can only hope that FEMA too, will also do the right thing, and not jeapordize our future careers with Naoma or elsewhere by ensuring total anonymity in this tragic matter."

It is unknown whether the research contacts are actually from the Seattle facility in question, but FEMA assures that they are in complete cooperation, and a comprehensive list of the activities going on at Naoma have been outlined in detail. Regional FEMA Analyst Robert Spindel of Seattle stated:

"We now know everything we previously did not know about this facility that we were seeking to find out. We know all the bioresearch projects and what biological compounds to test for. We have a general idea of what the risks are now based on our prelimenary findings. We are aware of the projects taking place. This will increase our ability to make sense of the on-site testing result data at a much faster rate now that we know specifically what to look for. We previously did not, and were hunting in the dark. Since few questions remain now, we can focus on the test results and of course, our investigations into possible bioterrorism links and motivations."

Since the accident, the quarantine imposed by FEMA has certainly done it's fair share of harming the port city all on it's own:

"All the businesses, Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, all exporters - anyone really. We're getting slammed despite all the (obvious) workarounds. It's hurting the financial sectors." Posted Chamber of Commerce member Jake Westin on the Seattle holoforums.

FEMA has not yet announced when they are expecting to lift the quarantined zones.

Washington Senator Lynnette-42 uploaded the followng holopress response:

"It is against protocol for FEMA to lift the quarantine in this situation until their data has finsished being processed by Horus, and fully reviewed. The Network's engineers and IT's are in the process of uploading at the present time. But it should not take much longer now that the research departments are offering assistance."

Arkansas Courts Recognize Human/Robot Marriage

Arkansas Courts Recognize Human/Robot Marriage

LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas state courts announced that they would finally recognize inter-sophont marital relations between bionts and robots. Since the bill was passed, only three other states still refuse to recognize this area of expanding definition for registered partnerships. It is rumored that the decision came about to improve diplomatic relations with the Texan frontier, predominantly populated by bots. While the presence of cyborgs has become increasingly common for all parts of Arkansas over the past few years (including even the more isolated areas), Robots themselves (At least, according to the latest current statistical data) are still relatively uncommon in all but the most industrial cities. And even in such areas they generally dominate the lowest available income spectra. Upward social mobility is almost completely nonexistent for even the higher Turing grades. "We basically keep to ourselves, nobody wants to have anything to do with us. We are second class citizens. That is all." Explained AHS-9 the current chair(man?) of NOW a robot worker union that doubles as an organizing nexus within Little Rock and other communities for sentient rights groups specifically towards corporate responsibility. -9 continued to explain, "This decision was an effort to quell tension and improve communications with the reclusive Texan enclaves. After Houston's Fusion reactor meltdown, most humans left the area, or retreated to the very edges of the once-then state. But did anyone take the robbies with them? No. Did anyone come back with the necessary maintenance required to assist the survivors once the 2015 Sentience Act was passed, acknowledging finally that we are conscious beings? No. Having violated these rights, they cut themselves off, and the prolonged lack of communication has worried the rest of the nation."

VIRT-305, a senior member of the Little Rock bot clave L2 expressed his own doubt regarding the efficacy of what is considered by the majority of bots to be little more than a hopeless attempt to improve relations with Texas, "We do not work this way. Our nature is not one that is to be charmed from such events as they unfold. We remember, we possess memory. I am certain this will change nothing."

The 2015 Sentience Act, which granted Robots all the constitutional rights that humans and other sapients are guaranteed (including reproductive freedom), greatly improved the quality of life for all bots, but what would once be considered "racism" still remains.

the most outspoken critics of the change, were of course social conservatives closely affiliated with various small religious groups. This morning, Holotalk host Paul Hewn succinctly stated, "What do we care anyway? Go ahead and yell at them, they won't yell back! Robots are nobots. Why should we mess with Texas?"

Contamination Still Unknown, Incomplete Information Fuels Civic Concerns

Contamination Still Unknown, Incomplete Information Fuels Civic Concerns

SEATTLE - Yesterday morning the Naoma Bioresearch Facility was severely damaged in a large scale explosion. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what caused the accident. Regional FEMA Analyst Robert Spindel of Seattle responded in a press release last evening, "This is a very serious emergency, but we are all working together, taking necessary action to secure the safety of Seattle. Having said that, We have immediately placed a quarantine on the port city, including most of the Puget Sound and much of the surrounding area as well. Until we have an in-depth detailed analysis of environmental testing data done in the area, and get in correspondence with Naoma Bioresearch project coordinators about the exact details of this facility, we can't put the two together and provide Horus with the required data. Until then, we cannot really know for certain what level of dangers we might be facing, so it is best to play it as safely as possible for the imminent time being. And we've done an excellent job at doing that. I want to stress that this situation is under control."

Seattle Chief Fire Marshall, Justin Greene, expressed his own concerns shortly after, "All the fires are out, wounded are being treated and the area is quarantined. But it's not enough. No civic leaders are able to know what was going on in that place since most of the employees that worked there, are missing, deceased/destroyed or unable to talk to anyone right now. Until we get in touch with someone, we don't know what we are up against here, and that's not good for anyone, that's not good for Seattle!"

Washington State Senator and Sentience Correspondent of the Horus Network, McClure-42
uploaded the following statement to Holopress in mere minutes after the official FEMA public channel press release had ended, "This is troubling, but this is not doom, the Cyberian Network's temporal navigational path extrapolations confirm my own echoing hyperturing intuitions that Naoma sources will contact appropriate discourse channels shortly. Their cooperation has been determined as insured. Do not fear for this problem will be corrected. Although I too must admit that I do suspect that there is more to this event than has been publicly disclosed through the available public infostreams at this current time. That too has been determined to be corrected."

Bioresearch Facility Explodes, Extent of Contamination Unknown...

Bioresearch Facility Explodes, Extent of Contamination Unknown...

SEATTLE - Just hours earlier this morning at 10.23, the Naoma Bioresearch Facility rocked the port city in what witnesses described as a loud reverberating explosive fireball. Seattle resident Edward Whatley described the event, "Just boom, it was loud, I was driving my new Mazda down Lake Washington Bridge coming back from Bellevue and the car just shook from the noise I guess, I didn't feel any heat or anything, but the huge flame that came out lit up the whole place real bright. One time I saw a gas station burn down back when me and my girl were living in Chicago, but it was nothing like that. This happened all at once, right up in front of me. It was crazy."

The fire of the accident site itself has been contained, and while it is unknown what exactly caused the explosion to take place authorities are concerned about the nature of the facility and possible contamination. Police Sgt. Marcus Kavanagh expressed his concern, "Yeah, I don't feel good about this, it really looks like a terrorist attack. There were no explosive or incendiary compounds being produced or stored in that compound, at least nothing we've been informed about. Nothing really sufficient to destroy the whole place like this. It was all biological testing stuff, medical mostly - nothing chemical. It looks intentional, it's vital we find a list of everything being produced or stored in that place and exactly what the ramifications of any possible contamination in the Hudson Bay are and local wild life would be."

FEMA Officials from Washington, D.C. that have transported to the area have as of yet declined to comment on the event at this time. Network interface with central protocol AI representation within the Horus Network is at this time not in position to make any comment regarding the incident to to a lack of informational sensor feed. All attempted holograph communications have been unresposive with central subsidiary government offices and we are still awaiting correspondence.
